In order to allow Haynes International to increase manufacturing capacity and quality, Steinberger Construction partnered with the owner to construct the R35 North Expansion. The project included 8 Ft tall perimeter concrete impact walls and 3 inch insulated metal panels, two, 35 Ft deep equipment pits, a 25 ton overhead crane system, and several equipment foundations. Steinberger and their partners implemented innovative processes to overcome a number of obstacles during the completion of the project. When installing foundations and pits around several live underground process lines, a lifeline retrieval system and an air monitoring system were used. The Haynes North Expansion was completed weeks before the construction deadline and came in under budget.
